Godley ISD has been approved to hold an election on November 2, 2021, for a Voter Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE).
A VATRE is a special election called by a school district, asking voters to approve an increase above the maximum Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate. The M&O tax rate in Godley ISD is .9664 (97 cents). Voter approval through a VATRE is required for a school district to exceed this rate. ALL of the revenue raised through this increase would go directly to the increase of salaries and pay for our teachers and staff. If the VATRE is approved by voters in the November election, Godley ISD intends to immediately increase employee salaries starting with their November paycheck.
We understand that there are many questions regarding why this is the solution to pay raises and we want to address and clarify any and all misinformation that may circulate. We’ve created a VATRE FAQ page where you can find some of those answers already and we will be releasing informational videos and more in the upcoming weeks. We will also hold public meetings to present and discuss the VATRE leading up to the election date.
We look forward to continuing to improve and navigate growth with the help from our community and stakeholders!
